Many dog food brands use synthetic vitamins and additives to cut down on the cost of providing balanced nutrition.
Nature’s Logic dog food line began with the search for a recipe for canines that could provide complete nutrition only through the use of whole foods and in 2006, the first bags were being sent out.
If you worry about all the unrecognizable ingredients in your dog’s food, but you still want to guarantee that they’ll have complete nutrition, Nature’s Logic could be the right choice. It provides natural sources of everything your dog needs to feel happy and healthy.
Is it the right choice for you? Let’s break it down and find out.

Nature's Logic Dog Food Reviews
Kibble
Dry dog food, or kibbles, make up the majority of pet foods in the market. Dry food offers plenty of benefits to dogs and owners alike: they’re usually more energy dense, cheaper, offer more texture, and can help your dog maintain better oral health. Plus, they usually pack more protein.
1. Canine Duck and Salmon Meal Feast
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
First Five Ingredients:
- Duck Meal
- Millet
- Turkey Meal
- Chicken Fat (Preserved With Mixed Tocopherols)
- Salmon Meal
This duck & salmon recipe uses premium ingredients and only natural sources of vitamins and minerals to provide your dog with dense, balanced nutrition. Duck and salmon meal have more protein than regular meats, and Nature’s logic sources them from responsible, sustainable sources.
Balanced carbohydrates give your dog plenty of energy all day long without adding excess calories or cheap fillers. There are no synthetic ingredients and no artificial preservatives as well as no corn, soy, potatoes, peas, and artificial colors. Your dog receives a densely nutritious meal without any of the additives that can cause adverse reactions or inflammation.
It’s more expensive than the average food, but if you can swing it in your budget, we think you’ll really like it. The kibble may be a little bit large for small breed dogs, but wet the kibble or switch to the canned recipe of the same food for your little friends. It’s highly rated food and worth every penny, especially for dog owners that have trouble controlling their dog’s many allergies.
We recommend this product without reservation and think that if you can make room in your budget, you’ll soon find that you’re spending less time at the vet’s office or coaxing your dog to eat the food in front it. It’s excellent quality, and you can actually read all the ingredients. What more could you ask for?
This range is also available in the following flavors: Chicken, Pork, Sardine, Turkey, Lamb, Venison, Rabbit, and Beef.
For pups who are sensitive to grains, there are also grain-free alternatives of the Feast recipe in these flavors: Beef, Chicken, and Duck & Salmon.
Wet Dog Food
Some dogs are naturally picky eaters, while some like more moisture in their food. Wet dog foods are ideal for pets like these. And not only do wet dog foods have a higher palatability than dry ones, they’re also less processed and closely resemble proteins in their natural state.
2. Canine Chicken Feast
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
First Five Ingredients:
- Chicken
- Chicken Broth
- Chicken Liver
- Chicken Heart
- Dried Egg Product
There are only a few key ingredients in this recipe, and that’s a good thing. It means the brand is focusing on ingredients that matter instead of fillers and preservatives. The entire recipe is made up of 90% animal protein. There are no grains (a plus for grain-sensitive doggies), plus it’s low on carbohydrates.
The fresh chicken provides the protein (11%) while the chicken liver and heart are healthy sources of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin A, iron, folate, niacin, and more. Chicken broth not only gives the meal much-needed moisture, but it also adds flavor and palatability for the recipe.
Nature’s Logic made the meal more balanced by adding in nutritious superfood veggies and fruits like apple, blueberry, broccoli, apricot, and a whole lot more. To help pooches maintain strong bones, a highly-digestible eggshell calcium was also included into the mixture.
We like that there are no problematic ingredients in the recipe so you can be sure you’re feeding only the safest meals for your dogs. No carrageenan, no by-products, or chemically synthesized vitamins.
It’s great for pups of all life stages. However, if your pet needs to lose a little bit of weight, it’s probably best not to feed him the entire can because each can contains 504 kcal.
The Nature’s Logic Canine Wet Food range has a wide range of flavors. Aside from chicken, the recipe is also available in: Turkey, Beef, Lamb, Pork, Beef Tripe, Venison, Sardine, and Rabbit.
Dehydrated Dog Food
Supplements make eating time a bit more exciting for dogs. Usually, pet owners add dry toppers or broths to their pets’ usual dog food diet to add variety in the flavor and texture. Nature’s Logic’s Dehydrated Broths are crafted not only to add moisture and more palatability, but also to give additional nourishment and nutrients.
3. Dehydrated Beef Bone Broth
Rating: 5 out 5 stars
Only Ingredient:
- Dehydrated Beef Bone Broth
Made from all-natural beef bone, this broth will provide your pet with a tasty liquid treat. Because it’s made from real beef bone, this dehydrated broth recipe also contains glucosamine and chondroitin (for supporting bone and joint health), amino acids (vital for building proteins and synthesizing neurotransmitters and hormones), and trace minerals for boosting the immune system.
There’s only one ingredient in the broth, but it’s really powerful in terms of nutrition. Your pet can get 90% minimum crude protein and 1% max fiber in each serving.
It can be used as a treat, a drink, or served to hydrate your pet’s kibbles. What’s more, these are not only good for canines but felines as well so multi-pet households will benefit a lot.
The Dehydrated Bone Broth line is also available in these flavors: Chicken, Turkey, and Pork.
Treats
Treats are a great way to teach dogs new tricks, reward good behavior, craftily sneak in medication, and help clean your dog’s teeth. Nature’s Logic takes its treats seriously, which is why the brand has a wide lineup of the products.
Beef Bones
Nature’s Logic has crafted a line dedicated to bring pups their favorite traditional treat — bones. Bones are carnivore-appropriate snacks that appeal to all life stages. The brand has brought out some tasty beef bone cuts designed to appeal to pups looking for a lip-smacking munchy treat.
4. Beef Femur Slices
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Only Ingredient:
- Beef Femur
Bones aren’t just made to keep your pups busy chewing, they serve a purpose too. Bones, particularly beef bones, can be excellent sources of nutrients and can help satisfy a dog’s appetite. Have a pooch that’s well-fed but constantly asking for food? A beef bone treat will help keep him occupied and keep the weight down.
Beef bones are also great for preventing plaque buildup, and these bones are sized just right for recreational chewing. They’re designed for adult dogs of all breed sizes. The slices make it easier for smaller dogs to get a good grip on the bones.
Other beef bone treats include: Shin Bone, 8” Hind Shank, and 4” Center Cut Hind Shank.
Canine Chews
Canine Chews promote good dental hygiene in dogs and provide recreational chewing. This range is made from natural, cattle-graded USDA Prime beef sources from the Midwest.
5. Beef Lung
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Only Ingredient:
- Beef Lung
Delicious does not have to mean unhealthy. In fact, these yummy meaty treats combine nutrition and flavor in one. There is only one ingredient in this recipe and it’s beef lung, cut into bite-sized pieces to fit the mouths of small to large dogs.
Organs are extremely nutritious and are more nutrient-dense than the usual muscle meat we give them. So naturally, giving our pets bits of 100% beef lung treats will be healthy for them.
As far as nutrition info goes, these chews offer a whopping 78% crude protein, 1% crude fiber, and a nice level of moisture at 10%.
These are dehydrated meat so you can rest assured that the nutrients these contain remain intact.
Other options for the Canine Chews include Beef Trachea, Beef Lung Steak, Beef Jerky, Beef Pizzle, and Beef Tendon.
Spread
Who says only humans get to enjoy spreadable treats? Nature’s Logic made one just for pets to enjoy. The spread can be added to treats to make them even more palatable or enjoyed on its own.
6. Peanut Butter Canine Treat
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Only Ingredients:
- Peanuts
- Chia seeds
- Coconut oil
Most dogs go wild for peanut butter, but human peanut butter spreads aren’t really advisable for dogs. This peanut butter treat lets canines enjoy what we pet owners have for so long, without the guilt (and the possibly harmful-to-pooches ingredients) involved.
The Nature’s Logic Peanut Butter Canine Treat is made up of three ingredients only. No fillers, preservatives, or unnecessary ingredients are there to clutter up the list. It’s just peanuts, chia seeds, and coconut oil.
The peanuts, of course, give that tasty flavor and texture that dogs beg for. But chia seeds? These give dogs a lustrous coat and healthy skin courtesy of the omega-3 fatty acids that they pack.
The coconut oil, meanwhile, provides a healthy punch of fatty acids that’s excellent for a dog’s immune and digestive systems.
We can’t find any fault with such a superb treat. Plus, this spreadable snack includes a high level of fiber (14%), protein (25%), and fat (46%).
Recall History
Nature’s Logic has never had a recall. It uses only safe production procedures and carefully monitors the recipes and packing methods of each food so that you know it’s done safely. They’ve had over ten years of marketing and never had a single issue.
Customer Feedback
Nature’s Logic gets excellent reviews for being a natural source of nutrition for dogs. Customers appreciate that they understand each ingredient on the list and that it provides balanced vitamins and minerals without using synthetic ingredients. Although it’s more expensive, customers who buy it swear by it.
It regularly gets five stars on most of the recipes with the average rating for most at four and a half stars.
What do people like and dislike about them?
Many people are discovering that the cheap fillers and artificial ingredients in standard dog foods aren’t what they want to feed their pets. A lot of customers switch to this food because they want something natural without all the additives, but they don’t want to sacrifice complete, dense nutrition. They enjoy the choices of exotic meats and canned and frozen options.
It’s great for people who want to feed raw food but have trouble with spouses or dog sitters knowing what to do. The patties are simple, and most dogs love them. Customers also like that the recipes don’t use peas and potatoes as a substitute for grains. A recent study showed a tentative link between diets high in peas and potatoes and an enlarged heart, so this food alleviates that danger.
It’s significantly more expensive than standard kibble and could take some adjusting to fit into the budget. Although we feel the cost is definitely worth it, some customers felt the pinch of the extra cost. They also mentioned that the lack of life stage-specific formulas was disappointing as well as the lack of breed size specific options.
Some also noted that their dogs didn’t like the kibble and that it’s expensive to have their dogs reject the food. You could try feeding the wet food on top of the kibble or slowly introducing kibble to see if your dog likes it. You could also try one of the smaller bags at first to see if your dog will accept the food.
The good news is that there are so many recipes and protein sources that you’ve got a great chance of finding something that your dog likes and will eat regularly.
Positive
- “My Doxie Pickles loves the taste of all their kibble so I just rotate the different proteins for her. It does not have synthetic vitamins and that's great if your dog has allergies and is so good for their all round health, especially if you can't afford to feed them raw.” Pickles, chewy.com
Negative
- “Tried for a week to mix this food in with our current food. My 2 dogs refuse to eat this product.” Floridagirl, chewy.com
Behind the Brand
In 2005, Scott Freeman set out to make a balanced food that people could feed their dogs without worrying about toxic synthetic ingredients. We do it for human foods, so why not dogs? He began experimenting with recipes and sought the expertise of veterinarians to find out if it was possible.
In 2006, the recipes had been created and tested. There was nothing else like them on the market, but they passed all their certifications and were ready to help pets everywhere feel good and remain healthy.
Now, the company has a line of kibble, frozen raw, and canned foods, each of which uses whole ingredients to provide balanced nutrition and a complete picture of health. The company has never had any trouble and continues to create new recipes your pet will love.
What types of dog food does Nature’s Logic Dog Food offer?
Nature’s logic started out with kibble, but now you can also get a line of wet foods and frozen raw foods designed to make feeding your dog quality meals as comfortable as possible. They don’t use any cheap fillers such as corn or soy and no artificial ingredients. These recipes are great for dogs with sensitive tummies that don’t react well to common cheap ingredients.
They don’t make life stage-specific or breed size specific recipes so check with your vet if you have a large breed puppy or another special issue. Small breed dogs may benefit from wet or frozen foods if they have trouble chewing the kibbles.
The dry foods use meat meal which is a concentrated form of protein. Each is labeled (i.e., chicken meal) so you know exactly what you’re getting. Wet and frozen foods use real organ meats and whole meats for quality protein sources.

Parting Words
This is a solid choice for pet owners seeking a natural, nutrient-dense diet without synthetic vitamins or additives. The brand's commitment to whole-food ingredients is impressive, but its higher price point and the inclusion of millet as a primary carbohydrate may not appeal to all pet parents.
Overall, it’s a great option for those prioritizing clean, natural nutrition, though some dogs may benefit from a more diverse grain-free formula.
